Grilled Peaches with Fresh Whipped Cream

Fresh, local fruit… Is there anything sweeter? Summer grilling, maybe.

I love pick-your-own fruit farms. In my last post I talked about fruit picking at Fishkill Farms and how much fun I think it can be. ‘Mad props’ aka thank you to the farmers, workers and fruit pickers of any farm out there. It is a laborious job and someone’s got to do it!

Peaches are one of my favorite fruits, throwing them on the grill brings out their juicy flavor as I found out when I made this Peach-Chipotle Salsa last summer. I knew a drizzle of honey, some freshly made whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon would be just the right touch for some succulent grilled peaches.

I also wanted to make peach iced tea and that Peach-Chipotle Salsa but the peaches just didn’t last that long.

A side note to anyone who has picked fruit or is thinking about picking fruit: Don’t leave your garbage lying around in the berry bushes or next to a lush and beautiful peach tree. It is rude and inconsiderate to the workers on the farm, not to mention mother earth. It also really irritates fellow fruit pickers… ahem, me.

Another thing, While the peach on that tree that has a bite taken out of it made for a nice photo opt, don’t do that! Don’t take a bite and put it back and don’t drop it on the ground. Come on, it is gross. I stepped on a half eaten peach with sandals on and it was pretty disgusting. Be respectful! You are also supposed to pay for what you pick. It is a given that a few samples are okay but don’t waste an entire piece of fruit after taking one bite.

Grilled Peaches with Fresh Whipped Cream

Make while already grilling for quests for a quick and not too heavy summer dessert.

Yield: 4

Prep Time: 5

Cook Time: 5

Total Time: 10

Ingredients:

2 cups heavy cream
2 Tbsp confectioners' sugar
4 peaches
Honey
Cinnamon

Directions:

Pour the heavy cream into a medium sized bowl. Add the confectioners' sugar and with a hand mixer, whip the cream and sugar until light and fluffy. Set aside in fridge.

Cut the peaches in half and remove the pits. Light and turn your grill to medium high and place peaches face down directly on the grill. Close the lid for 5-7 minutes or until grill marks are present.

Place peaches on a plate and drizzle with honey. Top with the fresh whipped cream and sprinkle cinnamon on top to your liking. Serve and Enjoy!

    I`ve seen these before and they always tempt me! Oh, how I wish I had a grill!

    I got to try grilled peaches a couple of months ago and it was amazing!
