Candy Cane Hot Chocolate and Chocolate Dipped Spoons

Candy Cane Hot Chocolate and Chocolate Dipped Spoons | Sweet Remedy

I’ve deleted this first line about 10 times now.

What do you write about when you have so much going on in your life at the moment? Stressful things like seeing 4 different doctors in a week and a half or horrible things happening in a state over to little, innocent children?  Do you ignore it and talk about food? Do you speak out and tell the world how you feel? Do you whine about your own issues instead?

I think my heart is too heavy (literally) to talk about anything else other than the first option: food. Is that okay with you all?

Candy Cane Hot Chocolate and Chocolate Dipped Spoons | Sweet Remedy

Hot chocolate is a comfort to me. It brings back childhood memories; memories of a time when things were so much simpler and I didn’t have a care in the world. My only wish was to play outside with my friends: Put my snow suit on, grab a sled and find the nearest hill. While I could play outside in the cold snow until my fingers, toes and nose were numb, coming in was always nice because of the opportunity for hot cocoa and then the joy of sucking on a candy cane.

I hope you have fond memories of hot chocolate as well and if you don’t you should make this candy cane hot chocolate recipe and make some new memories.

Candy Cane Hot Chocolate

Yield: 2

Prep Time: 5

Cook Time: 5

Total Time: 10

The chocolate covered spoons with candy cane pieces are really a delight to stir into this already minty drink.

Ingredients:

For the spoons:
2 candy canes
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
For the drink:
2 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 Tbsp powdered sugar
1 - 3 candy canes, divided

Directions:

For the spoons:
Crush the candy canes into tiny pieces. Places in a bowl and set aside.
Melt the chocolate on the stove top or in a chocolate melter and dip the spoons in the melted chocolate and then coat the chocolate spoons in the candy cane pieces. On a plate, set aside to dry.

For the drink:
Heat the milk on medium heat on the stove top, stir so it does not boil or burn. Add the chocolate chips, powdered sugar and one whole candy cane. Stir until all of the ingredients melt. Pour into cups and serve with the chocolate spoons or an extra candy cane.

It’s nice and refreshing to see your wonderful recipes. Yes, we are all saddened at this time and this was a great diversion from the sad state of things. Hot chocolate, especially, is a comforting remedy. Miss seeing you guys out there in the snow!! Glad that they are good memories for you too!!

What a wonderful holiday gift–I love these!

I felt a bit weird posting this week too and I took Monday off. What is there that I can say? I don’t know. I’m a private person and it would feel strange to write at length about how I was feeling. I hope your health issues aren’t serious…

Kiersten, Thanks so much for your kind words. I have some tests tomorrow morning but I really don’t think they will find anything serious. I hope not anyway! I’ll just drink more hot chocolate until then….
