Mixed Berry Crème Fraîche Smoothie with Lemongrass + Ninja Mega Kitchen System Review
A Crème Fraîche Smoothie with Raspberries, Blueberries and Strawberries. Perfect for the end of Summer.
You don’t need to be a genius to make a great smoothie but for a second here, I thought I was. Madagascar Vanilla Crème Fraîche from Vermont Creamery, lots of berries and a tiny bit of lemongrass, I’m all about it.
To make this epic smoothie I used my Ninja Mega Kitchen System which is a huge step up from my tiny food processor whose blade wasn’t that great and could not cut through frozen fruit very well. Poor little food processor, you’ve since been hidden back behind this monster of a machine in my appliance pantry.
This machine blasts through frozen fruit like it is nobody’s business, which really helps because I usually buy all this produce with good intentions: “I’m totes going to make a green smoothie today…” Those good intentions get carried away with the wind and my beautiful blueberries begin to mold and my spinach starts to wilt. Crap.
Green Smoothie: 2 handfuls spinach, 1 handful of grapes and another of freshly cut and cubed cantaloupe with 1/2 cup of almond milk and a banana.
Now I can freeze bananas and kale with the best of them and not have to worry that my food processor won’t have enough power to cut through it all. My fruit and greenery purchases are now promptly put in the freezer so I can leisurely make a smoothie filled with whatever I want, when I want and I don’t have to worry about wilted leafy greens and moldy peaches.
My food processor hasn’t been totally cast off, only for the fact that it can shred cheese and carrots like a pro and that is the only thing that I have found lacking in the Ninja Kitchen System food processor bowl. I made these amazing Rainier Cherry and Mascarpone Tartlets with the dough blade in the food processor bowl and it was magical. The coolest part of the Ninja Mega Kitchen System is that it comes with two single serve cups, which are great for when you are on the go. You just blend and then change the lid. I couldn’t believe how powerful the blender was, even while using those tiny cups.
My only suggestion is to not overload your circuit, you will probably trip a breaker when you plug in and use this bad boy with another appliance. Not that I did that or anything…
For this smoothie I used raspberries, strawberries and blueberries but you can use any combination of berries that you prefer!
Prep Time: 05 min
Total Time: 05 min
1/2 cup vanilla crème fraîche
2 Tbsp lemon grass

Add the banana and berries to a blender or food proceesor, pulse a few times. Add the yogurt, almond milk, crème fraîche and lemongrass and blend until a smooth consistency is reached.
